Jim joined the News13 staff in April of 2007 as a general assignment reporter for the Valley Report. After graduating Villanova University with a degree in Communications, Jim hit the road as a freelance videographer, covering auto racing events from Florida to Vermont and even Canada. Not long after, Jim traded in his long overnight car rides for a more permanent home in the Poconos. During his time in Carbon County, Jim was the first on scene of many breaking stories, including the tragic Jim Thorpe fires in December 2009. Jim's high energy level often finds its way into his work, winning a Communicator Award for his American Idol feature where he waited 13 hours to actually try out while at the same time covering other locals hoping to make it big. Jim can now be seen on the Pocono Report at 5:00 and 6:00. When not hard at work in the newsroom, Jim continues to be the chief videographer at the New Egypt and Bridgeport Speedways in New Jersey, and can often be found belting out some classic rock tunes at the local karaoke hang-out. Jim is also a weather buff and storm chaser/storm spotter for the Mount Holly, NJ National Weather Service. If you have a news tip or story you would like Jim to investigate, drop him a line at jmurdoch@pencor.com. Jim currently resides in downtown Stroudsburg but often visits his native town of Belmar, New Jersey, especially in the summer. |
