The history of Blue Ridge Communications Television is an example of outstanding achievement.

It began in 1950 when Palmerton TV Signal Corporation sought and was granted permission from the municipality to install coaxial cable for television reception.

Several name changes and many improvements later in 1971 the name was changed to Blue Ridge Cable Television, Inc. 1999 ushered in a new year and a new look as the company updates it's name to Blue Ridge Communications, Inc.

From the year of 1981 to the present, Blue Ridge Communications has offered such program choices as WTBS, MTV, CBN, USA, ESPN in addition to PBS channels 44 and 39, Nickelodeon, Arts & Entertainment, Nashville, Lifetime, Pennarama, and Telebet from Penn National Raceway. Additional channels include TNT, EWTN, C-SPAN, HOME SHOPPING, FNN, DISCOVERY and VH1.

Other pay - TV cable networks CINEMAX and PRISM were launched on Blue Ridge in 1983: the DISNEY CHANNEL in 1987 and PAY - PER VIEW in 1988.

In 1990, Blue Ridge Cable added the Madison Square Garden Channel, The Travel Channel, Showtime, Country Music TV, CNN, Headline News, Adult Programing and QVC.

EYEWATCH NEWS 13, a totally new local news program, was developed on Blue Ridge in 1988 and centers on local news, sports and people features airs live at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM weekdays.
