A popular children's story makes an appearance at the Palmerton library.

But it was not in the form of a book.

Senior theater majors from the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts were at the library this morning.

They performed their adaptation of "The Day The Crayons Came Home" for local little ones.

School officials say the story was chosen because it holds lots of important lessons for young children.

"The book spoke to [the seniors] about a lot of things they wanted to showcase to younger students about being kind, about taking care of your things, finding love in one another and they wanted to spread that message to the younger children," said Ashley Weller, a member of the theater faculty at the charter school.

The group has been performing the play all over the Lehigh Valley since December and is now nearing the end of their tour.
