Installation of a backup safety system for trains going through Carbon County was completed last night.
The final two towers were installed for the Positive Train Control System on the Norfolk Southern Railroad line in Bowmanstown. The system is designed to take control of a train and stop it if the crew should become unresponsive, if it begins to approach dangerous speeds or if another train enters its path.
Greene and his crew are returning to their homes in New Mexico. They installed 16 towers this winter in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and parts of New York.
