A Montgomery County man is arrested after he assaults two Jim Thorpe police officers.
26-year-old George Carfagno of Royersford was a passenger in a car stopped by police Monday on West 4th Street for a vehicle code violation.
He initially provided officers with false information about his identity.
When police ordered him to get out of the car, he started to hit and kick the two officers. A fight ensued leading police to tase the man and take him into custody. Both officers suffered injuries.
Police also discovered an arrest warrant was out for Carfagno in Montgomery County for a parole violation.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a backpack containing drugs, a scale, and a BB gun.
George Carfagno is behind bars in Carbon County on a slew of charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, harassment, and drug possession.
