Pennsylvania has, by far, more cases of Lyme disease than any other state in the country. The CDC reports Pennsylvania had just under 9,000 cases. That's about 5,500 more than the next leading state of New Jersey.

   Legislators included 2.5 million dollars for the Department of Health specifically for ticks and Lyme disease prevention, education, awareness, and surveilance.

   The Task Force on Lyme Disease and Related Tick-Borne Diseases created a 2015 report suggesting 18 different methods the state can go about to help minimize the problem. Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says they plan on implementing those suggestions.
