The Citizens Fire Company of Tamaqua hosts an annual block party as a fundraiser. People look forward to it every year, but PennDot construction near the party has forced the company to cancel it.

The Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church heard about this, and decided to host an ice cream social at their church to help raise funds for them. It was held from 4-8pm, and all ice cream dishes were $5 including banana splits and brownie sundaes!

Parishioners there tell us the fire company raises around $20,000 every year thorugh the block party, and although the church won't raise that much with ice cream, they want to do everything they can for the firefighters who are always there for the town.
