“Let Them Walk in Our Shoes”

Sapori Elementary School, Amado Arizona - Linda Ott (formerly of Palmerton) volunteered in 2006-2007 through the AmeriCorps program, teaching reading to students in grades 4-6.
Sopori is located 25 miles north of the Mexico/Arizona border, on the Sonora Desert. Poverty is widespread and the school has a rate of 95% on free lunch. The Tohono-O’odham Reservation surrounds the property. Other reservations in the area include Pascua Yaqui and the San Javier where a large mission is located. Tohono O’odham land spreads into Mexico. Linda and Gene Gerber travelled to Sapori Elementary School on behalf of TV13 to help distribute your donations. Thank You to both Linda and Gene!
