Hunting is the sport of choice for thousands of people in Northeastern Pennsylvania and there may not be a bigger day on the calendar than the first day of deer rifle season.

Hunters were gearing up early this morning, flocking into the woods for the first day of deer rifle season.

Many of them have been scouting spots for months, but so far have been coming up empty handed.

Some of the hunters we spoke with, only heard a handful of shots fired all day and haven't spotted any deer since getting out in the woods early this morning.

Though they may not have been able to bag that elusive buck, these hunters say just spending time with friends and family is the biggest reward.

The PA Game Commission expects more than a half of million people to take part of deer rifle season. The season will come to end on December 9th.
