DCNR crews are trying to contain a brush fire in Pike County.

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon in Blooming Grove Township. DCNR officials say about 75 percent of the fire has been contained.

Forester, Tim Dugan says crews have been out all night trying to get the fire under control. The fire has already scorched close to 200 acres of earth, but no homes or buildings have been damaged.

DCNR credits the large number of volunteers who showed up last night and this morning to help extinguish the blaze.

The crews built a fire break, blocking the fire from spreading and impacting any structures nearby.

EMA officials say with the cold and dry temperatures plus leaves on the ground, people need to be very careful when burning.

Crews expect to have the fire completely contained eight tonight.
