Updated mapping technology will soon give 911 Officials a 3D view of every building in Carbon County. For example, in a hostage negotiation, police will be able to view all access points to a building or home before arriving on scene.  As part of The Pennsylvania Map Program, the state flew planes over every county to collect imagery.  That initiative was discontinued back in 2008 leaving individual counties to collect the data themselves.  Commissioners approved the Pictometry Plan today.  The company will fly a plane equipped with five cameras over the entire county twice, once in 2018 and again in 2021.
