A family dispute turned violent over the weekend in Wayne County. Around 11:30 Saturday night, Police responded to 28 Robbin Lane in Paupackan Lake Estates.

22-year old Jacob Silfies shot his 44-year old father Edward after a heated fight. Police say the father and son were arguing, before it escalated to punches being thrown. The two traded fists for a couple of minutes, before family members broke up the fight.

Edward told the family he would spend the night at a relatives home that night, but returned to the house about 15 minutes later. The family saw him approaching, carrying something black in his hand. Police say when he entered into the kitchen, Jacob Silfies shot him one time in the chest.

Police couldn't say if Jacob was defending himself or if they shooting was justified. Police say Edward was treated for the gunshot wound and is expected to be ok.

Jacob Silfies is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is locked up in the Wayne County jail on 200-thousand dollars bail.
