A 51-year-old male died after he drove his bicycle into a moving Ford pick up truck. Police say the cyclist was riding his bike on the wrong side of the road. He was wearing dark clothing and his light wasn't very bright. No charges have been filed, and the driver showed no signs of alcohol intoxication.The man was from long pond. His identity has not been released because next of kin had not been contacted when we spoke with police.
People who ride their bikes in a rural area like Monroe County need to know a couple things. Always ride WITH traffic not AGAINST traffic, and ride as far right of the road as possible. High-lumin lights should be on the front and back of the bike, and riders should always wear highly visible clothing.
