A major pedestrian bridge is set to be installed in Carbon County in just a few days.
On Monday, December 18th and Tuesday, December 19th, crews will install the six beams of the Mansion House Pedestrian Bridge in Jim Thorpe.
The entire installation is expected to take between 24 and 36 hours.
"Three sections have been connected to each other and each half has been placed on either side of the Lehigh River and on Monday and Tuesday they will be placed and essentially, using the two five hundred ton cranes, will put the bridge into place on the abutments that have been built on the site," said Elissa Garofalo, executive director of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.
The four million dollar project is the single biggest project on the D&L Trail.
The bridge will make the D&L Trail the longest multi-use trail in the state of Pennsylvania.
