A Coaldale man is in federal prison for attempting to engage in sexual activities with a minor he met online.
28-year-old Robert Rang was sentenced by a United States district judge back in September. He was convicted in July of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
Court documents say Rang met a 9-year-old boy from Massachusetts via Playstation in 2014. He communicated with the boy for months and sent him gift cards. Rang asked him to send naked pictures in return, but the boy refused.
The boy's grandmother found the sexually explicit messages and contacted police.
A search of Rang's Coaldale home uncovered child pornography and evidence he tried to lure multiple young boys in other states.
Rang will spend twelve years in prison and have an additional fifteen years of supervised release.
