Officials from Middle Smithfield Township will be looking to rezone the Country Club of the Poconos Public Golf Course from a Planned Residential Development into a C2 commercial property. Township supervisor Annette Atkinson said the township would sell the 320 acre plot through public auction. She said it would help tax payers by getting the golf course off the books.

But residents in the Country Club of the Poconos say they're worried construction could come through their community. Robert Pohlman says he doesn't feel the common people of the immediate area will have a say in things. He also doesn't think the land should be commercial at all, and should remain an open green space.

Middle Smithfield Township will host two public events to get people involved. January 25th will have their Preview of 2018 and February 8th will have the public hearing for voting on rezoning the golf course.
