Today marks the traditional celebration of Fasnacht Day, or Fat Tuesday.

A Lehighton bakery celebrated its first Fasnacht Day in the area since opening back in November.

Blended Bakery on First Street has been preparing for the big day since Sunday.

But even with two days worth of preparations, bakery workers still couldn't keep up with the day's high demand.

"We weren't sure what to expect and it took off and we're doing really well. We sold out by 8:30 this morning so we've been preparing dough and donuts and going from scratch all over again throughout the whole day," said owner Christina Yurasits.

Long Johns, sticky buns, and the traditional Persian donuts all flew off the bakery shelves this morning. 

For anyone who wants to stop in on a calmer day, Blended Bakery is open Wednesdays through Sundays.
