Met-Ed says they've made steady progress restoring power to residents in Pike County.
Yesterday there were still over 12-thousand customers without power, but the electrical company says they cut that deficit in half by the late afternoon today.
Delaware, Dingman and Lehman Townships have been plagued with the largest numbers of power outages. Met-Ed crews were out today in both Wild Acres and Birchwood lakes, two of Delaware Townships larger private communities.
Crews were also spotted on Silver Lake and Doolan Road in Delaware Township. Met-Ed says they are being assisted by crews from 14 states traveling as far away as Louisiana to get the lights back on. They were repairing some of the power lines and replacing the utility poles.
Dozens of people living in Delaware township have taken shelter at the Dingman Township Fire Department since losing power last Friday.
The Red Cross set up a shelter, providing meals, showers, and cots to sleep in for any family that is still in the dark.
Many people at the shelter say they're grateful for the warm place to stay, but they are counting the hours until getting the call the lights are back on.
