Residents in Tamaqua should be prepared to boil their water the rest of this week.
Beginning at six o'clock tomorrow morning, a water boil advisory will go into effect for all customers of the Tamaqua Area Water Authority. It's a necessary precaution that must be taken while the borough repairs and replaces components of its water treatment plant.
"One of those components is a water meter that comes off our finished water tank. This meter is getting replaced and because we have a break in the system, we have to issue the precautionary water boil advisory," said borough manager, Kevin Steigerwalt.
The advisory will be in effect until further notice. There must be two days of good water samples from the plant before it can be lifted. The borough hopes to be able to do so by the weekend.
