The Lehighton School District continues to say goodbye to its elementary schools.

It was East Penn Elementary's turn this past weekend.

The school held a farewell celebration on Saturday afternoon.

It was one last chance for former and current students and teachers to take an emotional walk through the building one last time.

"I'm really sad this school is closing and I love it so much but I'm glad we're going to the new school and I just want to be here to celebrate," said Jada Williams, a current fourth grade student at East Penn.

First grade teacher Rhonda Zerbe echoed those same feelings. "It is bittersweet. I've been in the same room for the past twenty-three years and in this building and it holds a dear place in my heart. Moving on will be a fresh start but also nerve-wrecking to get used to a new building."

All four Lehighton elementary schools will close at the end of this school year as the district transitions into its new elementary center in the fall.
