Residents in Carbon County learn to be "bear aware."
Beltzville State Park held an educational program Saturday about Pennsylvania's black bear population. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says it's not unusual to see the bears right here in Carbon County.
"Carbon County has a tremendous bear population. The habitat is perfect for them plus we have tremendous food supplies," said Cory Bentzoni, game warden at the PA Game Commission.
The program attracted people of all ages.
Those in attendance learned about what attracts bears and how to eliminate feeders that may draw bears to the area.
The Game Commission also gave tips on what you should do if you encounter a bear while hiking.
