A Pike County family is trying to recover after a tree crashed into their home during the intense storm Tuesday afternoon.

Maggie Deming says it was the scariest moment of her life. The sky turned black and the wind was howling, unlike anything she's ever experienced.

Deming says a the dangerous gusts were so strong, it ripped a tree right from the ground.

The pine tree, lifted in the air, spinning towards her son Terrance.

Terrance says, he never moved so quick in his life, narrowly dodging the tree as he sprinted across the lawn to safety.

The tree came crashing down on the house, just barley missing the low hanging electrical lines.

Deming says her family is lucky to be alive. If the tree would have caved through the roof, it would have crushed her daughter who was in the living room below.

Deming says the family has fallen on hard times and money is very tight. She setup a gofundme page to help with the repairs. If you would like to donate, you can click the link below.
