More than fifty- percent of the population of Pike County is made up of seniors.
That demographic is the most targeted by scam artists nationwide.
Today at St. Patrick's Church in Milford, this often victimized group learned how to turn the tables.
DA, Ray Tonkin, briefed seniors on some of the more common scams that are targeting them.
One of those involved bailing a grandson out of jail in a foreign country, while the other was a not so cordial call from the IRS.
Tonkin stresses, the IRS only does business one of two ways, either in person or over the phone. He urges seniors, if they ever are unsure about who is on the other end of the line, to hang up the phone and call someone they trust.
About two hundred people attended elder justice day in Milford. Tonkin says anyone who feels they are victims of the scam should not panic, but contact the DA's office or their local area agency on aging office.
