A man charged with more than a dozen bank robberies across the region has been sentenced to spend almost 20-years in federal prison. A judge gave that sentence to 45 year old William Fischer of Dunmore today. Fischer pled guilty to robbing 14 banks over two years. Four of those banks were in Monroe County and three were in Wayne. Fischer was arrested last September after a robbery at Peoples Bank in Gouldsboro. More than 200 thousand dollars was taken in the heists and several of the same banks were robbed more than once. The judge ordered Fischer to pay back almost 190-thousand dollars police were not able to recover after those crimes.
