"Worst case scenario we won’t have an ambulance,” said Weatherly Mayor Tom Connors . “Then if someone’s having a heart attack in the middle of the night, it might take 20 minutes for one to get there."

   "I think their short fall is close to 80,000 dollars, a year so we have to figure out how we are going to get that” added Connors.

The issues with the Ambulance Association stem from reduced Medicare and Medicaid costs, low call emergency volume, and having to keep up with payroll.

   "Payroll expense is approximately $13,000 a month,” said Lorraine Labor, Director of Operations for Weatherly Ambulance.  “We bring in approximately thirteen thousand a month so it doesn’t leave really anything leftover."
