A familiar face in Lehigh Valley law enforcement is hanging up his badge.
Trooper Marc Allen of the Bethlehem State Police barracks retired Friday after 25 years of service.
"I'm a native of South Philadelphia and grew up as a Boy Scout. I always wanted to help people," said Allen.
He spent a lot of his time with the state police working with kids, going into schools and serving as director of Camp Cadet.
"When I enlisted in '94 it was a different time. There was a lot of work to be done and there still is a lot of work to be done so I'm glad the future generation is signing up and taking criminal justice in college and wanting to help people because that's where it starts," said Allen.
Allen might be turning in his police badge but he'll continue working for safety and crime prevention. He has plans to start his own security consulting company and will remain on the board for Camp Cadet.
