The team of 5 divers began searching waters early Wednesday morning, using high tech methods to locate the phones.
"We found the fist part of the first phone in less than 5 minutes," said Chief Diver Rick Pullen. "I have a very dedicated team who are well trained." he added.
With the help of phone providers detectives found the radius of where the calls may have been made making it easier for divers.
" I am thankful we had good information from the cellphone companies, they told us when and where the calls were placed," said Monroe County Detective Brian Webbe. "They were able to give us a very exact location as to where the call was placed and where the handset was located at the time," he added.
