A Kidder Township ski resort had its eyes set on Friday for opening day.
But it looks like Mother Nature is getting in the way.
Jack Frost Ski Resort will now open mid-next week. Plans to open Friday were foiled by impending weekend rain.
Despite the delay, resort management tells News 13 they are way ahead of their typical snow-making schedule, thanks to recent arctic air and some new snow guns.
"The last couple weeks it's been great. [Tuesday] morning we bottomed out at ten degrees, we have four big hills going top to bottom and we're about three-fourths of the way done to our goal of being one hundred percent open for Christmas," said Jack Frost Big Boulder vice president and general manager, Mark Daubert.
Jack Frost's partner, Big Boulder, has been open since mid-November. Management plans to have those slopes open Friday and weather-permitting, Saturday and Sunday as well.
