Members of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce are helping men and women in the area "dress for success."

The new workwear program will launch Thursday.

The Chamber's Women in Business Committee started the initiative in conjunction with a number of other organizations.

They're asking for donations of freshly washed and laundered suits, workwear, shoes, handbags, and accessories.

"The 'Dress For Success' program is needed here in Carbon County. We've heard from many different organizations who have recognized the need where men and women have come into interviews in jeans and a t-shirt and that's just not acceptable. We want to help them dress for success, land the job they want, and advance themselves in their careers," said Alice Wanamaker, assistant vice president of the Chamber's Northern Tier.

The Chamber will collect donations throughout the year at their Women in Business luncheons, starting with Thursday's. That event will take place at Radical Winery in Lehighton.

If you would like to make a donation without attending a luncheon, you can call the Chamber office and make an appointment at (610) 379-5000.
