A well-known Mahoning Township man was killed Monday night in a car crash in Schuylkill County.
State police say Frank Ruch of Lehighton was headed west on Route 895 in North Manheim Township around 7:00 when he was t-boned by a truck in the middle of the intersection with Route 61.
Ruch was killed on impact.
The truck went airborne and ended up on top of the center road barrier. The driver was not hurt.
Police say the intersection's traffic lights were out at the time of the crash due to a power outage.
Ruch was currently serving as a Mahoning Township supervisor and set to run for Lehighton School Board.
He also worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike and volunteered with Mahoning Township fire and ambulance services.
