Thanks to a special donation, students at the Panther Valley Elementary school have access to books and a summer reading program.
The Amtek Foundation has donated $18,000 through grant funds to provide students with free books. Teachers learned many students could not participate in the Spring and Fall book fair because their families could not afford it.
"Kids come here and they see all of these awesome books and sometimes families don't have the funds to put towards the fair for whatever the situation might be. So we make sure the don't have that burden and that their child gets to pick out a book at the book fair" said Principal Robert Palazzo.
The grant will also cover the cost of a summer reading camp for students which will be held from July 15th through July 26th.
Teachers will be available for small group instruction and research projects to keep each child's skills sharp when class picks back up in the Fall.
