A program at East Stroudsburg North high school is giving special needs students, a real world experience. The transition program allows students to work in places like Kalahari and Lowe’s.
Salvatore Lapadula is the transition coordinator at the high school, He told News13 about his work with giving special needs students an opportunity to work at job sites and also attend school.
“The transition program within the school district we try to start right away in September by doing jobs within the facility, so we can get the students prepared to go out into the workforce,” said Lapadula.
In the beginning when Lapadula was brought on to the school. He had only 4 students in the program, now he’s been able to grow it to have over 50 students in the transition program.
