A Lehigh County butcher shop takes a trip abroad for an international festival, and they come back with three medals for their products sold right here at home.

Hartman's Butcher Shop in New Tripoli won two gold and one silver metal for their restored beef jerky, German landjager, and home smoked ham.

Before earning a trip to Frankfurt, Germany for the festival, the submissions up for judging were shipped to the University of Wisconsin, and judges flew in from Germany to taste test before deciding which competitors moved on.

The shop has won other awards in various competitions across the U.S. but this one really takes the bacon.

"The German International Competition is one of the biggest, if you make it there you have a good product, and we feel very proud of that," said owner Dennis Hartman.

Hartman's is a third generations shop, passed down through the family since 1940.
