Last year over 1,500 Carbon County senior citizens received vouchers to use at local farmers markets for healthy food.
Distribution of the farmers market vouchers this year begins on June 10th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
The nutritional program is funded by the State Department of Agriculture. Any Carbon County resident age 60 or older who meets income guidelines will receive $20 worth of vouchers to use at various farmers markets to buy fruits and vegetables.
To pick up the vouchers, residents must provide a photo ID and proof of income. If you are picking them up for a loved one or neighbor, a proxy form must be filled out ahead of pick up time.
Proxy forms and more information on the program are available at the Carbon County Agency on Aging or area senior centers.
