At Wednesday’s commissioners meeting, the decision was made to request 750 thousand dollars from the state to fund several organizations around Monroe county.

“The emergency solutions grant that’s being provided, not only helps the Salvation Army but helping other agencies and the partnership in the community is wonderful,” said Major Gilbert Parkhurst, with the Salvation Army. “This grant shows there is a need in this community. We want to help people that have fallen on hard times,” he added.

In late August early September the organizations will be notified if they will receive the funds.
