Lansford Alive is hoping to brighten up town with a mural honoring the town's rich coal mining history.

The mural will be placed on Patterson Street along Route 209 on the former 5 and 10.

It will depict the number 6 breaker that once stood on the east end of town.

The project is expected to being in mid July and take a few days to complete.

President of Lansford Alive Chris Ondrus says over the last few years route 209 has under gone quite a transformation and the mural will be the latest addition.

The cost to create the piece of art is expected to be $3,500. So far one third of the cost has been raised. A KickStarter page has been created to raise the rest of the money by July 13th.
