With fewer homes for sale, real estate growth in Northampton and Lehigh counties has slowed in recent years. That's now pushing people north which set up Carbon County to have one of the best home-buying years for 2018.

With a lack of inventory in the Lehigh Valley, people are starting to look to Carbon County for affordable housing. According to the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors Association, Carbon home closings have shot up 62% since 2014. The median price for a Carbon County home is $135,000 compared to $199,00 in the Lehigh Valley.
