A charity motorcycle ride is helping in the fight against animal cruelty.

The Pipes 4 Paws motorcycle ride begins at mission barbecue in Whitehall on August 25th and ends at classic Harley Davidson in Leesport.  it's $20 per rider and $5 for a passenger.

There will also be a DJ,  raffles, and Zimmerman's dairy will provide free refreshments.  Organizers say the ride was started three years ago, after seeing too many social media posts about abused animals.

"it doesn't do much to just share a post of an abused dog...doing this is something that we can physically do to help a cause and come together to make a difference," says organizer Eric German.

Last year the ride raised over $10,000  for the Carbon County Animal Shelter.  Shelter Director Tom Connors says the money is a tremendous help for the shelter..

"The fact that so many people come out and care, it recharges us a little bit as far as the staff and volunteers so that's a big plus too," says Connors.

Organizers say this year they're looking to break a Guinness Book of World Records for the most participants in a charity ride against animal cruelty.
