Election day is a little less than two months away, and officials want to make sure everyone is comfortable using the new voting machines.
Officials from the Northampton county elections office were on hand Friday morning at the Hope Lutheran Church in Cherryville. Residents were given a demonstration of the machines and had the opportunity to check them out ahead of election day.
The new machines include a paper ballot which is cast into a locked box to ensure voting security and is more user friendly than many may think.
"A lot of people get nervous to use new technology options on the voting machines and this one is a a lot larger making it easier. So people should not stray away from voting" said Northampton County Judge of Elections.
Another voting machine demo day is set for October 3rd from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church.
