A Berks County community is searching for answers as authorities continue to investigate the suspicious deaths of two young children.
Conner Snyder, 8, and Brinley L. Snyder, 4, were found unconscious inside their Albany Township home on September 23rd. They were pronounced dead at the hospital three days later.
"Didn't really hear much but just that it was tragic," said Matt of Kutztown.
Community members remain shaken, more than two weeks after the kids were found inside their home in the 2400 block of Route 143.
Four search warrants obtained by News 13 say the children's mother, Lisa Snyder, discovered her son and daughter in the basement around 4:30 in the afternoon on Sept. 23rd.
They were found unresponsive, hanging from a support beam by a single wire cable about three feet apart from each other. That cable was wrapped around the beam with each end tied around the kids' necks. Two wooden chairs were found knocked over beside them.
"There's nobody that would leave an 8-year-old and a 4-year-old alone in the first place, not with any sense," said Kathy Hinkle of Steinsville.
"I don't know what people think nowadays so it's hard to say," said Matt of Kutztown.
Investigators took from the home an Xbox, iPads, a cell phone, a laptop and that wire cable.
Authorities are also searching for the family dog, who Snyder told police was often tethered outside with a plastic-coated wire. But, that dog was recently given away.
State police along with the Berks County district attorney and the Lehigh County coroner are leading the investigation.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
