We're learning more about what police say caused a head on crash on Interstate 80 last night. A car and a tractor trailer collided near the Marshalls Creek exit just before 9 p-m. The crash shut down the highway. State police say they were pursuing 34 year old Robert Szlasa of Middle Smithfield Township in connection with a burglary. Police lost contact with Szlasa but say he hit a car driven by a pregnant woman with her two year old son on Brushy Mountain Road. Officers found him again on Route 447. There officers say he drove at a high rate of speed through red lights and around other vehicles before getting on I-80 and driving in the wrong direction. Police say that's when he hit the tractor trailer head on. Szlasa was arraigned this morning and is in jail on 100-thousand dollars bail.
