Weatherly high school students are getting a lesson in weather from a former student.

Alyson Hoegg graduated from Weatherly in 2009. After attending college at Penn State, Alyson became a full time meteorologist for Accuweather in 2013.

Tuesday afternoon she talked to students about her passion for weather and what she does as a meteorologist.  From climate, to how weather models work- Alyson hopes the students have a new appreciation for the daily forecast.

"If they watch the weather or look at it on an app, I want them to understand how we predict where that weather is coming from, it's an actual person behind the computer making the forecast and its something they can trust," says Hoegg.

Alyson's presentation  is part of the school's kick off of  STEM  week.
