Two years ago, a teacher at Weatherly High School noticed a few kids in need of some new clothes.
After helping those students- Bobbi Ann Kufro wondered just how many other students in the school were in need of help too. She cleared her supply closet in her classroom and transformed it into a closet, stocked with everything you'd find in your closet at home. Gently used donations of pants, shirts, shoes, jackets and accessories are available to any student in need for whatever the situation may be. There's even some formal wear in case they have an upcoming event.
"I've gotten a lot of positive feedback. Just recently from a parent thanking me for saving her family some money for being able to provide this for our students," said Kufro.
And keeping closets in order can be quite the task, but Kufro has lots of help from her students.
"I thought when Ms. Kufro brought up the idea to me, I would love to help and make someone else feel at home like we do," said Tara Flores.
Students say the closet also comes in handy in the event of an unexpected need for a wardrobe change.
"Lots of stuff can happen like accidents, so then you don't have to go home because of a stain on your shirt, you can just come here," said Hailey Wenner.
Ms. Kufro also has the closet stocked with some "comfort" items like toiletries students may need as well. She says anyone is welcome to donate items- the most in demand items are socks sneakers for both boys and girls.
