A Carbon County man locked up on felony arson charges after allegedly setting his mother's house on fire while she slept.

The fire quickly swept through the woman's Beaver Meadows home around 7 a.m. Sunday. She was awakened by the family dog who alerted her to the fire.

According to a criminal complaint 47 year old Corey Ciculya and his mother got into a verbal argument around 2 a.m. She told police she saw her son had several luggage bags packed and she went to bed. A short time later, the dog woke her up to the smell of smoke, Ciculya allegedly told her, "your house is on fire," grabbed the family cat and his bags before leaving the house.

Fire crews quickly arrived on scene and put out the blaze. The State Police Fire Marshall determined the fire was intentionally set. Court paper work says Ciculya admitted to spraying chemicals into a hole in the wall from his bedroom into the basement stairwell and using a lighter to start the fire.

He's being held in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
