The Pocono chamber of commerce holds the event each year to bring the community up to date on what’s in the works for the county.
“It’s January it’s the beginning of the year, so we asked the commissioners to give a report and what are their goals,” said Chamber VP, Marlyn Kissner.
County commissioners addressed several things including details of plans to help the homeless and the Monroe county courthouse expansion, One the major topics is how recent property reassessment will affect certain areas of the county.
“Everybody’s concerned with what’s going to happen with their taxes and across the board, more people’s taxes will go down during the next year then will go up,” said Monore County Commissioner, John Moyer.
Moyer adds that residents of townships that have commercial real estate sharing the tax burden, Will see a decrease in their property taxes.
