Schuylkill County officials release new details in the investigation of alleged misconduct reported against commissioner George Halcovage.
Halcovage is accused by several female county employees of sexual harassment reported to the human resource office back in May. The county administrator launched an internal investigation.
While specific details cannot be released, officials say Halcovage violated the county's sexual harassment policy, the conduct and disciplinary action policy and the physical and verbal abuse policy. In a statement given to News 13 Monday by Halcovage, he denies the allegations against him.
It's expected the case will proceed to litigation since county officials cannot discipline a county commissioner without a criminal conviction or impeachment. Any other county department head facing similar charges would be suspended immediately pending investigation.
Officials noted there have been no complaints made against commissioner Halcovage prior to May of 2020.
