Several trails at Beltzville State Park which have been shut down due to overuse will reopen soon.
Over the past couple months, park staff have closed trail heads at Evergreen Road, Wild Creek Falls, Christman Trail, Pine Run Cove and Penn Forest Road.
The park manager says these areas were inundated with crowds this summer and saw lots of trash and unauthorized swimming. The park has received numerous complaints from locals about the trails being closed.
"They need to understand that the resources need to be maintained. We need to make sure we can get in there and clean them, we need to assess for trail work that needs to be done, and overall maintenance of the areas," said park manager Alma Holmes.
All five trails are expected to be reopened this Saturday, September 19th.
