The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg reopens today, but not for a concert.
The Monroe County Tax Bureau needed the theater to hold a property tax sale. The bureau needed a space large enough for social distancing. They were able to place 175 seats six feet apart.
"It's kind of bitter sweet, it's the first time anyone other than our employees have been in this building for 6 months, so it's kind of like -- oh cool -- we have something happening but it stinks that it's not live music and that there's no real end in sight to have a regular event," President and CEO of Sherman Theater, Rich Berkowitz, said.
The Sherman Theater has been closed since the start of the pandemic and no concerts are planned until next year.
