A big announcement is made in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Transit Authority has partnered with Trilium Compressed Natural Gas and PennDOT to open a compressed natural gas fueling station in Swiftwater. MCTA will begin operating their CNG buses on Monday. The Transit Authority director says bringing natural gas into the community allows local businesses to use natural gas to run their operations as well.
"It gets natural gas further into the community, and I think we'll all reap the benefits. I really do," Peggy Howarth, MCTA Director, said.
Officials say using these vehicles will allow for reduced emissions in the atmosphere, improve the fuel economy and cost less to operate.
