A State representative is calling on the International Olympic Committee to fully restore Jim Thorpe's 1912 gold medals.

Jim Thorpe had his gold medals from the 1912 Olympics revoked because he violated a rule by playing minor league baseball. Those medals were later restored in 1982, but only listed Jim Thorpe as a co-winner.

Representative Doyle Heffley introduced a resolution to give Jim Thorpe sole possession of those victories.

"Well, there was only one winner in the pentathlon and decathlon in the 1912 Olympics, and that was Jim Thorpe. And also no other athlete in history has ever won both the pentathlon and decathlon in the same olympics," said Heffley.

Heffley was joined in Harrisburg by Jim Thorpe's grandson John Thorpe where he resolution passed unanimously.

The request now has state support and will move on to the International Olympic Committee.
